Here's a recap from another productive week:
English Language Arts
- We used the genre of realistic fiction and articles from Scholastic News to continue our work with summarization.
- The students worked on writing opinion statements and developing introductions to their essays. They also worked on providing strong evidence/examples.
- The students worked on using properties of multiplication to further develop their strategies.
- We also worked on identifying parts of a story problem and deciding the appropriate operations.
- The students should have brought home a multiplication review today to finish up for Monday. I'd rather not test during the craziness of a day and a half week, so we'll continue practice and review in class and assess after the Thanksgiving break.
- The students took a pretest today on our next unit of study - Energy Transfer
- We will be diving into that unit after Thanksgiving break.
- The students did a nice job presenting their research on human characteristics from their regions.
- We also worked in the computer lab on using latitude and longitude to give exact locations.
