It's been a very hectic week coming back from the Thanksgiving break! We've had several students out sick this week, myself included. Hopefully next week will be a bit more normal for us! :)
FYI - There's a lot of illnesses going around, so please reinforce good habits. There are also some cases of lice in the other classes, so remind your students not to be doing any sharing.
I wanted to remind families that my new policy on late work and corrections is a one week deadline. That means that any of the multiplication assignments from the previous couple of weeks need to be in to me by tomorrow please!
**Also, if you have any old holiday cards that you could donate the front of for an activity, that would be much appreciated! We could also use donations of toilet paper for a holiday activity (full rolls, not just the tubes)**

Here's what we did this week:
English Language Arts
- The students used information from pictures and text to compare and contrast information.
- The students finished up their Thanksgiving writings (persuasive for 4th grade and personal essays for 3rd grade)
- The students continued their persuasive and personal essays from before the break by working on parallel structure and conclusions.
- They also had the opportunity to do some creative writing with an "anti-coloring" page.
- After reviewing multiplication concepts and strategies, the students took a test on Tuesday. We will continue to work with these performance assessments before final grades on them are given.
- The students worked with the concepts of money and time with the guest teachers.
- As we move forward towards the concept of division, we will first explore factors and composite/prime numbers.
- We began our next science unit on Energy Transfer. Our first set of experiments involves heat energy.
- Our 3rd graders completed their Photostory project with Ms. Fletcher! Check them out! We are room A-9
