Next week is the LAST WEEK of the 2nd Trimester! This means that the students have until Thursday, February 12th to turn in any missing work and/or corrections. Please take some time this weekend to check Parent Portal and look for "NA." This notation means "not attempted." Thank you as always for your support at home.
Fourth graders should be prepping for Economics Day. The main event is Thursday, February 12th. They have ads due on Monday, and, of course, they need to be bringing their good/service materials in for Thursday.
A note was sent home on Wednesday regarding our Valentine's Day celebration. We have wonderful parent volunteers putting together games and crafts for the students, but we are asking for $1 each to cover the cost of the supplies. A reminder that the students will exchange Valentines on Friday, February 13th. They only need to put their own name on the Valentines. Treats are fine, but individually wrapped would be appreciated. Please keep in mind that we have a nut/peanut allergy in the class.
Even with the snow days and a 3rd grade field trip, the students got focused and worked hard during our shortened week!

- We spent time working on our inflection and intonation while reading aloud. We will continue working on this next week while we practice our Readers Theater of Pourquoi Tales.
- Third graders are planning out their realistic fiction stories using story mountains.
- Fourth graders continue to write a group literary essay on a short story we read together. I expect that after next week they will be ready to write their own!
- We continued to work on division strategies including partial quotients and using models (place value blocks). I would like to begin the process of wrapping up our division unit next week with reviews and assessments.
- We are also wrapping up our Energy Transfer unit. A unit review went home today, and it is due on Tuesday. I am planning to take the unit test by Wednesday of next week.
- The fourth graders are working on Economics lap books to help organize the concepts we have been discussing and reading about in small group. They also spent time this week learning about the world of advertising to help them create their own ads for Economics Day.
