The students had a great week back to school! Even with school cancelled on Thursday last week, they still accomplished a lot!
Thank you to those parents that have responded to my request for volunteers for math and/or reading time in our classroom. I will get back to parents with a schedule once all of our pull-out schedules have settled into place and I have a better idea of our routine for the new year.

English Language Arts
- We continued to compare and contrast texts. This week we focused on trickster tales.
- The third graders have started brainstorming ideas for writing their own realistic fiction stories.
- The fourth graders have been analyzing literary essays on Charlotte's Web and a short story called "Taco Head." We have been working on identifying themes of a story to get started on our own literary essays.
- The students have continued to develop strategies for division. They have done a great job using compatible numbers and estimation for dividing with larger dividends.
- Our investigations of electricity have continued with a closer look at the elements of a circuit.
- The students also investigated what materials make good conductors of electricity.
