The students have been busy as usual! Just a reminder that another Scholastic order is due on October 28th if you are interested. With Halloween fast approaching, I wanted to let you know that I will be sending home information next week about our plan for the 31st, so watch for that in your child's take-home folder. And finally, I wanted to let you know that our class wish list right now includes fine-tip whiteboard markers for student use and hand sanitizer pumps. These two items are probably the most used in the class! :) Thank you for anything you could donate to help.

Here's a quick glance at what the students have been doing this week:
English Language Arts
- The students have been revising and making improvements to their personal narratives by including specific verbs, strong leads, and sensory details.
- They finished the District Writing Pre-Assessment. They will be assessed again in the Spring to measure growth.
- They took a quiz on synonyms and antonyms. These will go home early next week to make corrections.
- They started working on using sequence of events to write their own "Witches Brew."
- We also practiced reading aloud and using punctuation as a signal to pause.
- The students have been developing and practicing their addition and subtraction strategies all week. They have come a long way!
- We are reviewing in class today (Friday) and again on Monday. I am planning on assessing their addition and subtraction on Tuesday.
- The end of our living organisms unit has included a closer look at animal defenses, animal survival traits, and animal classification.
- The students also completed a web quest in the computer lab on endangered species.
- The unit review went home yesterday (Thursday), and we will be reviewing more in class today. I am planning on the living organisms assessment for Monday.
