- Please remember that Thursday is a 1/2 day of school because of parent teacher conferences. I look forward to seeing those of you that are signed up for either that afternoon or evening.
- IOWA testing will begin for our class next week and run for the next 2 weeks. Please make sure that your students are getting plenty of rest and eating a nutritious breakfast. The goal is for them to show improvement from the test they took in the Fall.
English Language Arts
- We studied the genre of fairy tales and continued to use inferences to draw conclusions about a text.
- Third graders should have finished the rough drafts of their realistic fiction stories and are now working on revising.
- Fourth graders are using an organizer to plan out their literary essays.
- Our geometry unit is in full swing now. The students have been studying different angle types and how they affect shapes.
- They have also used various tool,s including protractors, to measure angles.
- We are also studying the various types of polygons and their characteristics.
- Our study of matter continued with measuring mass on a balance and weight on a spring scale. Our next step is measuring volume of irregular objects with graduated cylinders.
- Third graders are reading about Michigan's early people and reviewing latitude and longitude.
- Fourth graders are reading about Michigan's history after becoming a territory.
